SDG 6.a.1 Amount of water and sanitation related official development assistance that is part of a government co-ordinated spending plan is reported on by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). Recent data is in the Irish Aid Annual Report 2019.
Irish Aid (a division of DFA) is the Irish Government’s official aid programme, working on behalf of Irish people to address poverty and hunger in some of the world’s poorest countries. The aid programme is an integral part of Ireland’s foreign policy.
In 2019, €2.548 million was spent on water and sanitation, out of a total Official Development Assistance (ODA) budget of €705.6 million. Therefore, water and sanitation accounted for less than 1% of Ireland's total ODA budget. See Table 6.1. Countries in Africa that received ODA for water and sanitation programmes in 2018 are shown in Map 6.1.
